Where do we draw the line? ECO THINKING 2009

Today (or yesterday) in Britain, a child was born who had had the breast cancer gene removed. Also, there’s now the practical chance to replicate whooly mammoths and saber toothed tigers (if they can get them out of the Californian tar pits). I feel uneasy about these developments—especially messing with the human genome. Will it be that you’ll be able to shop for your baby’s genes and we have a truly two tier society?

This is rather unsettling, at best. I can truthfully say YES, I am curious about what a wooly mamouths would really look like, etc-ever watched Jurrasic Park??!!-BUT, maybe the old addage is true: “Be careful what you wish for-”.—-Bea :D)
