Roadmap for Peace

I was initially going to use a roadmap from a part of Israel…but then I figured it would better to use Texas! Just not sure why? hmm…hehe

Road map for peace

The “road map” for peace is a plan to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict proposed by a “quartet” of international entities: the United States, the European Union, Russia, and the United Nations. The principles of the plan were first outlined by U.S. President George W. Bush in a speech on June 24, 2002, in which he called for an independent Palestinian state living side by side with Israel in peace: “The Roadmap represents a starting point toward achieving the vision of two states, a secure State of Israel and a viable, peaceful, democratic Palestine. It is the framework for progress towards lasting peace and security in the Middle East…”

Definition from Wikipedia

I never was any good at folding maps back up…
Now there is only 999 more cranes to make…till world peace!

As witty as it can get!! Love IT!!
& I believe, many product extensions could serve that design; from posters, to postcards, flyers, press ads for an ONG or an advertising billboard or mural; this is effective communication that makes its way easily through the visual clutter.
Hats off again…Love your approach to design…

I recently read a book called “Unspeak”, written by a bloke called Steven Poole. The book is all about manipulation of language, euphemisms and rhetoric in politics and the media. He had a chapter that spoke about this ‘road map’. Its a really good read, i definitely recommend it to all you political shirt designers!

He’s got a web blog which is a running commentary of political language, http://unspeak.net , check it out if you’re interested. Might give you some more ideas for shirts, it has for me :P.

    Great design.

  • nofrillsart replied

Thanks heaps for that Ayarti. Will definately check it out.

Great idea. Shame you lost the photograph, can we see it? Would love to compare.

  • nofrillsart replied

Ha…thanks Frank. Nah..the photo i started with was just of the origami crane in white paper, that i used for a template. But i guess it would be very cool to use a real map to fold into the crane!hmm…

  • Frank Stillitano

    Frank Stillitano

    Yeah!
Someone did a similar concept for the Adelade Fringe Festival a couple of years ago. Folded the previous year’s poster into an Origami Crane and photographed it. Looked great.
Your idea is different, but I reckon the realism of the photographed map would add some integrity to an already fantastic concept.

Simple, yet very effective execution. I think this does work better as a ‘graphic’ style rather than photographic, gives a crisp, cleaner message – it’s great.
