Beautiful capture, Liz! The soft background compliments the little finch perfectly!
noffi replied
Thank you Gene..i think it is soft because I took this through a window.I have been keeping my camera on the tripod by the bird feeder and taking shots as I pass by…when they are on the branches nearby….Never would I take a photo of the birds on a feeder…it goes against my asthetic senses to do that!

What I really like about this is how the background colors compliment the bird so nicely! It is so interesting to note how the yellow on the bird’s head is against the grey part of the background and the grayish/brown main body of the bird is against the yellowish/green shades of the background! Very nice! : )

Thanks so much Sandy..I tried to get the colors in the background to compliment…There were trees with yellow leaves in the background as well as some open spots and I moved around to get the colors where i wanted them. Luckily the bird cooperated by sitting there for a long time. There is a single branch by the window and the feeders are hanging near it so the birds often come to rest on that branch. Makes for a good set up for me…as long as the glass is reasonably clean and there is no glare.
Thanks again for such a nice comment.

Lizzie.. an excellent shot!
I am thinking of getting the same lens..100-400
It is however .. so huge..
How are you coping with that in bush work >?
Cheers

Johnny…I think you have read my answer re. the lens by now. You can handle it! I know that for sure! It is only dragging it around as you hike that is the real negative but as you know, I have my sherpa! Lucky me! Should i loan him to you? Hmmmmm
