View from Mt. Evans
Mt. Evans is one of the over 14,000 feet high mountains in Colorado. it is unique as it has the highest paved road in North America as it winds its way up to the top of the mountain. On the way up there are many memorable views as well as heart stopping curves and turns. This image was taken on one of the trails that offer hikes on the way to the summit. It was sunny and but there were shady areas that needed a boost so I took several exposures and used HDR to meld them together,

Marvin Collins
Perfect composition, beautiful natural colors and great job with the HDR processing.
noffi replied
Than you Marvin. The HDR was sort of a trial as I didn’t have a tripod …Too hard to drag one over the rocky terrain and near to impossible to set it up.

Beautiful vista view, Liz! You must have been extremely careful with the processing, I don’t see any signs of that “HDR look” at all. To me that’s a very good thing! The colors are all so natural and pleasing to the eye, with no “HDR afterglow”. (I’m sure you know what I mean…)
It is a truly lovely photograph!
noffi replied
Thanks so much Gene. I don’t do much with the HDR except try to avoid the really over exposed areas or the too shady dark ones. This one was done without a tripod so i wasn’t sure if it would work. Too hard to drag a tripod over the trails…Especially since the wind was blowing at about 25 miles per hour and the temps were about 40…Quite something at 14,000 feet!

The mountain in the background looks so far away because of the cloud formations! Awesome capture Liz!

Very nicely done Liz I like that the HDR has such a natural look I would never have thought it had editing of any sort.
