Looking down across my face
You’ll likely miss the hidden charts
Of young love fading and a sweet child parading
Leaving here all his broken heart parts

Broken hearts mended are warm to the touch
Their coolness worn thin with regret
To count someone’s days and change all their ways
Will be the hardest thing you’ll ever forget

Old memories keep breaking my heart
They’re always on my mind
The guilt and the shame, the joy and the pain
I will someday leave far behind

Whatever love is has left me uneven
Within my heart you’ve carved out your name
A tender flower warmed in the sunlight
To be drowned in a slow, pouring rain

Old memories keep breaking my heart
They’re always on my mind
The guilt and the shame, the joy and the pain
To be drowned in a slow, pouring rain
