In Homage To Max Dupain - 'Sunbathers #2' by

These shots were for an advert campaign in Culburra Beach.

The original iconic photo ‘Sunbather’ was shot at Culburra Beach in 1937 by Max Dupain of his friend Harold Salvage.

I was not trying to replicate the Dupain image, merely using his idea and the connection to Culburra Beach for this shot.

The colour image particularly looks like it was shot in a studio with a backdrop due to the aperture and angle I shot from, but it was actually shot on the beach.

Wonderful work – love your symmetry

  • Thanks. It did take a bit of setting up to get the symmetry and also not disturb the sand in front of the sunbathers
