Fractal Junk Food ?
HAS ULTRA FRACTAL BECOME THE WALMART OF FRACTAL ART ?
I haven’t finished reading this but couldn’t help mentionning it on redbubble, as I’d be very interested to find some FRACTAL threads around here !
It’s called Has Ultra Fractal become the Walmart of fractal art?
I wonder if some people who have no clue about how fractal art is made could find interest in such reading ?
But I love that amazing discussion !
How do we – fractalists and other people see fractal art as a genre / style / technique ?
Please tell us what you think.! Anyone…

Ahhh – the Orbit Trab Blog…. safe haven for the fractal community self-proclaimed “elite” to espouse their snobby thoughts on all things not Ultra Fractal… and especially take pot shots at Apophysis flame fractals…
Actually, I have both programs here on my PC – and use both/either, depending on what style of image I’m “into” on the day… lol!
UF can give you VERY nice results reasonably quickly, so can Apophysis – but the TYPE of end result will be vastly different from each program. Comparing the two is like comparing apples and oranges – they each have their pros and cons, and deserve to be taken on their merits, not their limitations.
That’s my 2c worth anyways… lol!

I do agree with you, based on what I have browsed online.
As I forgot to mention that I haven’t even tried using UF yet !!!
Btw, are they still compatible or not ?
tdierikx
UF is still compatible with Apophysis versions up to 2.05 – but there are bugs in the UF code that make it a very time-consuming practice. You’d actually do better if you used PS or another image editing program to layer Apo fractals over UF ones…

ok, thanks, that’s a useful tip !

I’m on a Mac. Fractal Domains is my software of choice. Again it gives a different look from the other programs. I like to try and make fractals that don’t always obviously look like fractals. Done on any software fractals are fascinating.

I’ve started learning Ultra Fractal too. I love it as much as Apophysis, I feel that with the two of them you’ve got a very wide “palette”, and I’m going to experiment in a few different styles….

I certainly agree with you about the self-proclaimed “elite” of fractal art. Can you imagine people actually calling themselves “prestigious fractal artists”? I’m not kidding. When I discovered fractals in 2003 I sent messages to them, asked to join their clubs…and was completely ignored.

I should have written that I agree with tdierikx.
