I Dare You!
This Praying Mantis appears to be injured and yet still very confident and protective of his territory (namely, My Yard). We had such fun together! I hope you enjoy this one.

Bonnie T. Barry
Joyce, I’ve tried on a number of occasions to get one of these little critters in sharp focus without much success. You’ve achieved this here, getting him in all his beauty and charm. I can tell the two of you were engaged in an animated conversation! Enchanting!
MaryO
Nice picture, a brave character.

Joyce Dickens,...
Hagen, Annika, and John: Thanks to each of you ; I appreciate your supportive comments very much! Bonnie and John, yes, it’s all about getting down to their level; not afraid to get in the dirt or grass in this case…....this guy was most cooperative! We were face to face and I had a blast :-)
Starr1949
Great capture Love the way the mantis is positioned and looking directly at the camera. The pipe takes you deep into the photo and the leaves with lines and a blurred background sets it all off.
Joyce Dickens,...
Starr1949 Thank you so much for taking a look and leaving such a gracious comment!

Those wings look like they haven’t yet opened up properly. When they first emerge they need pumping up, for want of a better explanation. I’m guessing this has just emerged. Nice catch!
Adela Hriscu
