The Angel Oak - Johns Island, South Carolina, USA
This is an approximately 1,400 year old Live Oak tree in coastal South Carolina. It has a trunk circumference of over 24 and a half feet and its boughs cover approximately 1 acre of land. It is reportedly the oldest living thing on the eastern side of the Mississippi River in North America.

such a cool tree!!! i even went to google to see if you could see it on the satelite view… i found the Angel Tree Playground… but really couldn’t tell which tree it was from above… maybe i was expecting too much? you have a great photo of the tree… it’s fabulous!!

Thanks so much for the visit and kind words! – This tree is located just south of Charleston, South Carolina just about 1/4th mile south off the road to Keowa Island Golf resort. It is about 2-3 acres fenced in with a few picnic tables and grills and a gift shop. It was named after the original land owners whose last name was Angel.
