I hope you find beauty and relevance in my photography! Please take a look at the artist notes for each photograph! It’s not just the picture, but also the story behind the picture that you may find interesting. I’ve tried to share that story whenever possible. If you have an interest in a photo which is missing a story, or if you want to know more about it, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Thanks for your patronage!

I shoot film and digital. My equipment includes:
Canon EOS 5D MK II DSLR full frame camera body
Canon EOS 1V 35mm SLR film camera body
Canon EOS 3 35mm SLR film camera body
Canon Canonette Q17 G3 35mm film Rangefinder
Nikon F5 35mm SLR film camera body
Konica Autoreflex T3 35mm film SLR (two camera bodies)
Konica Auto S2 35mm film Rangefinder
Konica Auto S3 35mm film Rangefinder
Mamiya 645 1000s 120 6×4.5 Medium Format film SLR camera body
Graflex Century Graphic folder 2.25×3.25 and 120 6×9 medium format

This wide array of cameras, and the varieties of film that I shoot on results in many looks and styles from black and white film to digital HDR.

However, although I enjoy the process of shooting using different equipment, photography isn’t all about the camera or the lens, it’s about the photographer’s interpretation of reality. I often challenge myself by carrying only one camera, one lens, one type of film, and endeavor to find beauty and meaning in the world regardless of the tool used to capture it.

HDR - High Dynamic Range Photography [Clouds]

As promised (eek- over three years ago!), here is my next HDR journal entry! / / (taken with a Canon 5D MK II, 28-300 Tamron) / (taken with a Canon 5D MK II, 90mm Tamron) / CLOUDS in HDR / As mentioned in my previous journal entry, motion is definitely a factor when it comes to capturing clouds in HDR. For best results, if your HDR involves multiple exposures, photograph distant clouds, so moti…

HDR - High Dynamic Range Photography [The right environment: motion]

A surprising amount of thought and planning goes into HDR photography. Because HDRs use multiple exposures of the subject, any movement at all can destroy the final result. (There’s a class of images that use the HDR tonemapping tools with only a single exposure- I’ll talk about these in a future entry. I call them “false HDRs”, and they can be quite beautiful if done prop…
