Cool water… a true “bubbling brook”… in the Spring and early Summer the Rio Pueblo de Taos runs gently down the Rio Grande Rift to meet up with the Rio Grande about a mile from the location of this scene, fed by melting snow in the Sangre de Cristo mountains nearby to the East.

This area is now part of the new Río Grande del Norte National Monument. Taken from the Bureau of Land Management mountain bike/hiking trail through this remote area between Taos and Pilar, New Mexico, US. The sky had smoke from the distant Los Alamos fire that gives that hazy feel to the distant rift wall.
