This is a Mountain bike and hiking trail that parallels the Rio Rancho de Taos as it heads to converge with the Rio Grande in the rift that runs through Taos valley, New Mexico, USA. Smoke in the sky from the distant Los Alamos fires created a nice depth of field for this shot. This high desert landscape at about 6900 ft elevation is filled with sage and grasses.
At full resolution you can clearly see the texture of the volcanic rocks, and the water running down the stream is clearly visible.
This is now part of the new Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument
