This is the terminal building for SpacePort America. Although still under construction, the grace and beauty of this structure is already apparent. Ironically low-profile, it is from this building that future astronauts will train and depart from our atmosphere.
URS Corporation and Fosters + Partners was awarded the design of the 100,000 square-foot facility, which will serve as the primary operating base for Virgin Galactic and headquarters for the New Mexico Spaceport Authority.
The high fence is to keep out gazelle, dear, and other native and imported high-jumping game found in the area, west of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. The SpacePort is far from any town or major highway- and the drive to it takes you between endless miles of buffalo and cattle pasture.
