This is the rail used to transport the antennas of the Very Large Array in New Mexico. Three of the antennas are visible in this scene. They have a specialized train that moves the antennas one-by-one over the three 15-20 mile spurs of the array, and sets them on top of permanent foundations arranged in the various configurations used.

This array is situated on the Plains of San Agustin west of Socorro New Mexico, US.

Taken using a Canon 5D MK II and a Tamron 18mm lens. 3-exposure, AEB, Tripod, processed in Photomatix and Aperture

Sold a copy July 5, 2013 to an unidentified RedBubble buyer:
1x Photographic Print of “Rail to the Stars”
Print Size: Large (24.0″ × 14.6″)
