Cool water runs through the Rio Pueblo de Taos, also known as Taos Creek and Kipawai. This river starts high up on Wheeler peak, the highest mountain in New Mexico, and terminates at its confluence with the Rio Grande only a mile or so from where this image was captured. A hiking and mountain bike trail runs along this river within the Orilla Verde Recreation area, managed by the US Bureau of Land Management. This area is now part of the Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument.
This is a three-exposure, +/- 2 auto-braketed HDR image edited in Aperture and Photomatix. Captured using a Canon 5D MKII, using a Tamron 28-300 VC lens.
