This marvelous and unique structure, once the pride of Miami, now sits in wait for its fate. Will it stay or will it be destroyed. Time has done it’s best to beat the old structure down… built in 1962, abandoned since Hurricane Andrew in the early 90’s. Yet, recent analysis has shown that the old stadium still has integrity, and new plans are on the table to bring it back to its former glory.
There are certainly plenty of people in Miami who grew up with this stadium as a big part of life here (present company included). Concerts, races, fireworks… this was the center of Miami fun. Elvis even filmed a movie here. For now we wait to see what happens.
You can see one of the skyscapers of downtown Miami in the distance. This is on Virginia Key, Miami, Florida. Currently closed and guarded.
