A late afternoon image of the Mittens of Monument Valley, from the View hotel. These rocks are called “the Mittens” because of their resemblance to mittens! The butte to the right is Merrick Butte. Running through the lower half of the image, you can see the road used for jeep tours and adventurous drivers who wish to take their own vehicles on the tour.
Monument Valley is a Navajo Tribal Park, operated by the Navajo Nation of the Four Corners region; this is not a U.S. National Park. The park is on the border between Utah and Arizona.
