At an abandoned Nike missile facility in western Miami-Dade county, graffiti covers the halls, making a twisted maze through debris and tiny rooms. Local kids call this place the asylum, an artifact of urban myth… they say this was secretly used as a prison for the insane after it closed as a missile facility in the 60’s. Outside the buildings, nature is reclaiming the land. If you look carefully at the end of this hall, you’ll see the way out of the asylum into the wild edge of the Everglades beyond its walls.

This Florida location is on Krome Avenue south of Tamiami Trail in Miami. The site is now completely sealed off for no trespassing; at the time this photo was taken the barricades were passable and the signs were fully graffitied over.
