On the extended Australia Day weekend I took my new a77 into the bush. On the first night I wanted to see how it well it would capture a night-time time lapse.
The sequence below depicts the first 6 hours of Australia Day, shot across Lake Eildon, made famous for “ahhhh, the serenity” in the iconic Australiana movie, The Castle.
Be sure to switch to 1080p mode first.
This is composed of almost 600 frames, shot in full 6000×4000px resolution RAW and downsized to 1920×1080jpgs full HD which is less than 10% of the potential resolution.
Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 @ 12mm
40s @ f/4 ISO800
Micnova interval timer
The pleasing thing about this is that the single battery in the a77 lasted for more than 6hrs/600 shots. (You must turn both live-view and auto noise reduction processing off to achieve this.)
