Artist's Description

Abstract painting of Beth’s flowers. This work was created by me during a difficult time and the story is sad, so if you do not want to feel depressed, stop reading and continue to the other images in the gallery. This is actually a digitally enhanced version of Beth’s flowers 1. The original was done in pastels and can be seen in this gallery as well. Beth was a very close friend of mine who’s life was cut too short and too soon. These flowers were delivered to her home after she had passed, after all the services had taken place and were basically left over flowers that nobody got to see and were eventually thrown away. They were delivered to her house and sitting on the counter and in my grieving process I decided to whip out my pastels and sketch them. When I made this piece, I was extremely distraught and confused and disconnected, trying to find a logical explanation for her loss and there was not one. Although it was done in a very bad time in my life, the artwork provides an outlet for everyone to see the flowers now. So they were not a waste after all and she would of loved them. The original and the enhanced versions continue to be extremely popular despite the subject matter. Artworks by Chip Fatula
