It is called Schiffahrt Königssee and is about three miles from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps, Germany. It is quite close to the border of Austria. The waters of the lake appear to be dark green because of the steep mountains that jut upward from its shores. We drove past the lake on our way back from Salzburg, heading to Munich and stopped to take pictures because it was so stunning.
