Shhh I hate you :) I went at 5.30 this morning and got zip! Hmmmmmmm. I feel a challenge coming on!! Oh great shot btw.

  • There’s such thing as a 5:30 in the morning? Pfft – best to stay on the beach in the evening, listen to a Bill Bryson talking book, eat fish and chips, wait for light, press button

nearly ventured there myself last night but settled on the short trip to Dog Rocks, the colours you got are awesome. Looks like Mel missed out :)

  • Thanks John, would you believe that I was looking across the bay at dust yesterday thinking that you may be shooting over at the rocks.

    Where’s dog rocks JR?

  • A few minutes west of Geelong – a little granite outcrop and a tree that talented people like JC can make look beautiful.

Excellent image John. I find that a lot of water sunset/sunrise shots are a bit of a cliche (even though technically impressive), but this has a prescence that few capture. The weathered poles seem to stand like silent sentinels witnessing the change around them – reminding us of the inexorable passage of time as a backdrop to the natural beauty and change of sky and water. For me, not too many images bring about that kind of contemplative mood, but its nice to experience one ‘now and zen’.

  • Thanks for your very astute comment Bruce. I did indeed mull over the name sentinals for a proposed title. It was indeed a nice contemplative time down there.
