Artist's Description

In Idaho a check-in-desk person at an interstate hotel greeted me and my Australian accent by asking “why would I bother coming out here?”. It seems strange but the distances in this part of the USA gave a great expansive canvas to the objects placed on it.

This this case the objects were two prototype nuclear powered jet engines – a project that had major and fundamental drawbacks but still seemed to consume many dollars back in the 1950’s and 60’s. Today the disused, but I suspect, still very radioactive, engines stand at the edge of a small car park in the middle of a very large canvas.
