My Vital Ki Tree

My tree for the Vital Ki project, which is part of the HopeActLove exhibition. The HopeActLove was an exhibition initiated in response to the crisis in Japan. It took me 3 days in total to finish this piece…

The vital ki project involved artists drawing a tree on a large scroll-like sheet of paper pinned to the gallery wall. Each tree drawing is a unique impression connecting the artists with one another, Japan, the earth and the energy of life. The HopeActLove exhibit was able to put together $2300 to donate to the Japan Relief Fund. I am proud to say I was a part of that. We hope to further expand the vital ki project in the future…

“Drawing the trees provided me with a sense of renewed hope for the people of Japan. As a whole this project has greatly affected me. I hope that we can really make a difference and help many people with the work we are doing. For me, it was a brilliant, surreal experience working on a project of this scale for such a beautiful cause. My best wishes to everyone and especially to the people of Japan.”

Media Used: charcoal on scroll paper 134 inches (11 feet 2 inches)
