I have always loved photography. In the days of film cameras I had a Nikon FG. I had a lot of fun taking pictures with that camera. I started digital photography with point and shoot cameras, but they were not as fun. Four years ago I got a Nikon D80 and that rekindled my enthusiasm. Now I also have a NIkon D600. I enjoy taking photos of nature, objects, and people. I have many photos of the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina. As for portraits, my favorite style is spontaneous and candid photos. I like to see people being themselves in natural settings.
I joined Red Bubble for two purposes. First, I want to learn more about photography from the many great artists and groups here. I hope to find photographers and models to share ideas with. Second, I want to show portraits of my daughter Grace and her best friend Laurel who both have been my inspiration. They have many talents as my portraits of them show. They are so gracious to allow me to practice on them. You may view my gallery of Grace here and Laurel here.
Thank you for visiting. I appreciate your support.

If you have seen my work you know that I photograph two sweet and gracious models, my daughter Grace and her friend Laurel. Well, Laurel has just joined Red Bubble under the name Unknown Records. Please welcome her to the community and give her your support. / Update April 2012: Laurel has changed to a new name / I thank you. / John
I had my first sale, my calendar of the Outer Banks. It was bought by my good friend Paul. Paul is the man who introduced me to Red Bubble. We also had a photoshoot together a few months ago in Corolla.
Thank you to all the people who voted for Dandelion Girl in A Woman’s World via a Diptych Challenge. I’m so excited! It’s like a Christmas present to me! I am very proud of my daughter Grace for giving me wonderful photo ideas, and for letting me follow her around with my camera :)
I’ve been inactive this week because my computer crashed. I am using another one to get online but I don’t have access to my photos. I am amazed that without making constant comments on other works that I have dropped to only 5 views per day! I rarely get views and comments unless I make a comment first.
