If you have seen my work you know that I photograph two sweet and gracious models, my daughter Grace and her friend Laurel. Well, Laurel has just joined Red Bubble under the name Unknown Records. Please welcome her to the community and give her your support.

I had my first sale, my calendar of the Outer Banks. It was bought by my good friend Paul. Paul is the man who introduced me to Red Bubble. We also had a photoshoot together a few months ago in Corolla.

Thank you to all the people who voted for Dandelion Girl in A Woman’s World via a Diptych Challenge. I’m so excited! It’s like a Christmas present to me! I am very proud of my daughter Grace for giving me wonderful photo ideas, and for letting me follow her around with my camera :)

I’ve been inactive this week because my computer crashed. I am using another one to get online but I don’t have access to my photos. I am amazed that without making constant comments on other works that I have dropped to only 5 views per day! I rarely get views and comments unless I make a comment first. Is my photography really that bad? If you’re reading this then you are special and my complaints don’t apply to you. But do you have any tips for retaining viewers, that is, how to keep people coming back again to look at my art?

My daughter and her best friend spent last weekend with me at the beach in Corolla. It’s springtime but the water is still cold and the wind is cool. Nevertheless, we were outside a lot taking pictures. Laurel had a photography project to do for school, and Grace was her model. I was able to get many photos of both of them working, playing, and just posing for me. It turned into a real photo shoot for two days. I had a wonderful time and they were an inspiration to me. They both wish to model and I am happy to promote them here with my photos from this awesome weekend. I’ll be uploading one or two every day, so keep coming back, and please give me feedback.

I won the Side Light Only Challenge in the Mornings and Evenings Group with my photo The Photographer’s After Us. These things don’t happen very often to me, so I will brag for just a moment :)

I am deleting some photos which did not get many views and comments. Some were just experiments to find out what other people like. Others I’ll keep because I personally like them so much. I’ll be concentrating on themes which appeal to me as well as people on RB. For example, I never tire of beautiful sunsets or reflections, and it seems like many others feel the same way. I’m ready to take more pictures and see everyone’s wonderful art on RB this year :)

It has been five weeks since I joined Red Bubble and I am pleased with what I have found. The people are friendly, the groups are well organized, the comments are abundant, and the feedback is constructive. One’s art never becomes stale over time, and it’s easy to find art I like. I was on Deviant Art eight months before I discovered RB, and I already am getting more attention here, and certainly learning more about photography. My thanks go to all the wonderful artists who have taken the time to look at and comment on my work. This is such a helpful community. The high standards on RB make me strive to improve and put out better art.
