Weeping Dahlia - In Remembrance

Gregory J Summers

Longmont, United States

Artist's Description

On the morning of 911, I was shooting dahlias in a friends garden. I was attempting to catch the drops of water as they formed large globes and dropped to the ground. I photographed the flower from every angle – part, all, and more.
I had no idea what was happening until I was done. She called me as I was walking to my car to come in and see what was happening. I watched as the 2nd plane hit the second tower.
This image has taken on so much more meaning to me.
The drops now seem like tears.
