Sheoak Falls

Sheoak Falls
The car park is located off the Great Ocean Road approximately 3 km’s south of Lorne Victoria, Australia.
From there ….....
Great Otway National Park
Length: 7 kilometres
Walk: 3 hours return
Track: Moderate
Grade: Moderate
Start: Sheoak picnic area
Finish: Sheoak picnic area

The track to Sheoak Falls is one of many scenic trails winding their way through the Great Otway National Park. Follow Sheoak Creek downstream to the aptly named Swallow Cave, home to countless swallows in spring, before continuing on to Sheoak Falls. The return loop along the Sheoak track branches off to Castle Rock, where a cliff-top lookout offers sweeping ocean views.
Note: Sheoak Falls Walk has a low river crossing due to the replacement of a bridge with stepping stones and should not be attempted when river levels are high.

great shot well captured, great lighting, as i know how hard it was to get right.
    .lol. :)) k

  • John Kowalski replied

Thanks Kristina, I arrived a little late in the day and the harsh light above the falls made it quite difficult to capture. I also had a couple of kids with me and had to watch them around the slippery rocks, but it was a good day!!

Fantastic John, love the smoothness of the water in the foreground and the milky flow of the fall.

  • John Kowalski replied

Thank you David, I’m very lucky to see so much water flowing over these falls. They are normally just a trickle due to dry conditions here in Australia.

  • Travis Easton

I’ve visited these so many times in all seasons hoping to get a good flow but thus far in vain. Absolutely pumping in this shot though John. Love that foreground too. Of course you can also visit them from the Great Ocean Rd end which is only a few hundred meters.

  • John Kowalski replied

G’day Travis …. thanks mate, as I said to Steve (above reply) I got lucky and really wish I could have been there in better light. Also, with my rheumatoid arthritis and the recent foot reconstuction I wish I had known about the short cut lol. All the same a pleasant walk on a lovely day!!
