The great blue heron is the largest North American heron.Great Blue Herons build a bulky stick nest, and the female lays three to six pale blue eggs. One brood is raised each year. If the nest is abandoned or destroyed, the female may lay a replacement clutch. Reproduction is negatively affected by human disturbance, particularly during the beginning of nesting. Repeated human intrusion into nesting areas often results in nest failure, with abandonment of eggs or chicks. Captured at at the Venice Rookery in Florida.

great shot. Is the heron with white feather the father? Wish they have a peaceful home without human beings disturbance.
thanks so much, the good thing is humans can’t get to this little rookery it is in the middle of water. The white one is a great white egret, and they also have a nest and I hope to see their babies soon.
