Spotted eagle rays are commonly found in shallow inshore waters such as bays and coral reefs but may cross oceanic basins. They sometimes enters estuaries. They swim close to the surface, occasionally leaping out of the water, or close to the bottom.The spotted eagle ray is listed as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species:
Captured on Venice beach ,Florida. There were 3 of these rays in the water, and they had everyones attention, they were close to shore this day.

  • thanks alot Kim, it was awesome to see, and the cool thing is one of Venice dive teams were out in the water, and a woman ask if I could send her copies of what I captured and they would hang them up in the dive shop there.

    SPECTACULAR!! Great capture and how neat to have even known they were there much less to capture a shot like this! You amaze me!!

  • thank you so much sue, I had seen them out for some time…then they got closer to the shoreline… tourist were running out of the water, lol the closer they got the more I kept shooting…and then all of a sudden out of the water it came
