hello mate,
well I was on a group tour over a year ago, 3 days and 3 nights in Nashville.
One of the stops one day was on Broadway street in downtown Nashville ( very close to the Ryman Auditorium)
We came across this ‘Sun’ record building. I knew that it wasn’t ‘The’ Sun recording studio as that was in Memphis. But it was explained to me that this was a subsidiary of Sun records.
No one was around at the time that knew anything about it and everyone I did ask didn’t know what the story was behind this building being taken down, including the folks in charge of the tour.
I looked in the window and there was nothing there to see…just empty spaces, dirt and debris. Outside the signs were removed or being removed.
It was a somber feeling to see something like that, something that was such an important part of music history being taken down.
I dunno, something about seeing that Sun symbol just laying there on the ground like a piece of discarded garbage…and the people walking by not thinking twice about it.

P.S. just noticed a penny lying on the ground in this photo.
Maybe I should have titled it ’ A Penny For Your Thoughts’ :)

Great shot and title Barry! It would have been hard not to take that sign home…especially if it ended up in the trash!

thanks Jen..actually that thought did cross my mind.
the sign was much bigger than it appears here and I did try to lift it up…very heavy.
then, there’s the whole getting across the border thing and dealing with customs…so I decided not to :)
