The Hmong tribal people of Northeast Thailand originate from South China, Vietnam and Laos. This village is close to the Lao border in Jungwat Nan, Thailand. The Hmong live in harmony with their environment, cultivating black rice, keeping chickens and pigs and taking only what they need from the surrounding forest. They spin their own yarn to make their highly decorated clothing. The Hmong are a shy people and not used to Western intrusion, but these girls gathering firewood for cooking were pleased to be photographed.
