Worn DownTime

Time raged across the barren landscaped fields.
It only felt a need to carry on,
Not caring about the destruction of the past
Or the horrifying scares left in its path.

The ragged scarecrow looked and shuddered deep.
Two black hollows staring at visions cast.
It’s straw-brained thinking not so crystal clear,
The chaff of thoughts scattered over the rocky soil.

The future looked as bleak as a Yorkshire moor.
No hope for sunlight cast to warm the thoughts.
The tolling bell calling all to its deadly grave.
It was time for this world to draw a final breath.

The music echoed loud for all to hear.
From satellites spinning through a darkened void,
The war dogs’ swords cutting deep into our veins,
The final song spat out its last refrain.

This species has “Amused Itself to Death.”
