Distant Shore

She sits upon a distant shore
Light rays dwindling in the west
Letting sand run through her fingers
Looking back upon her life
The waves crash on the shoreline
A gentle breeze blows through her hair
Her thoughts quickly turning
To a past that seemed seldom there
She looked down at some speckled shells
Scattered for all to see
And wondered if this is how
She’d be remembered for eternity
The things she really loved to do
Seemed like distance memories
But she was still determined
That a spark of life would still exists
She stood upon that golden sand
But it was time to stand on a mountaintop
For all the world to see
Till she could fly; and be so free.
