I’ve been waiting

looking for you

for your hand

and listening for your voice

in a crowd

and a sea of people

lonliness all around

looking for the friendship

of those who were there

to pull me out of the depths

of the valley of death

the last time I sank that low

they are precious

each was my rock

in a different way

and I have rediscovered

that they are still here

and were only lost to me

by my leaving them behind

I think of with each breath

the one I think about

as i fall asleep

and as I wake

aching to feel the touch of your hand

on the small of my back

and to feel your heart

as you look through my eyes

and into my soul
