Chain Reaction

poem written while at work

Staring at the rain outside the classroom window
The Symphony trickles agains the pane.

The constant blowing of air through the vent
a continuous reminder that I live in the present

Switching desks and rooms can bring a change
but still the atmosphere remains the same

The door opens and the door shuts
a new face with a different name

Images transforming on the TV screen
remind me of the vivid colors of my dream

The lights are out inside the room
as the loss of a friend continues to loom

The window’s shut the blinds are down
cracks in the shutters bring hope to this
desolate town

The walls around me stand tall
but you have become my wrecking ball

I take a step forward through the rubble
and leave behind my personal bubble

Showing love for you through action
may my service to you start a chain a reaction.
