The coming sun brings hope to another day, A farmer pulls on his boots as a dog bays, Early morning air sweeps across the fields in play, With creaks and aches that’ll increase through the day, The tractor bellows smoke and noise as a farmer goes his way.
Looking to his barren fields, He wonders how other Americans feel, About the way the American Dream has become a deal, Afraid it might be taken away for real, Thinking of the farm his dad and him wanted to build.
A hope flounders in his heart, About a government which will do their part, Willing to use his fields to grow crops, As his tractor rattles to a stop, With shaky hands he opens his mail box.
Wondering if the next sunrise will be the one.
The colors on this are spectacular, I love the way it captures the texture and tone of the crops that might grow in this barren field. The golds and bronzes as well as yellows let you almost smell the Grain, Alfalfa or Wheat as a combine slowly plants passing the new days sun. We live in a day where the government actually pays some farmers not to plant and lets that field stay barren. These could be used as they are slowly starting to do in the Midwest as windmill fields gathering energy from the wind and paying these American heroes rent for their land, letting them feed and take care of their families. Your picture captures both the hope and sadness of today’s American Farmer. Thank you for this.
