a toehold in the nest... by nadine henley
Clear

Currently unavailable for purchase

… and what enormous toes they are! another shot of this gorgeous Eurasian coot chick. When it had had enough of all that swimming around with mum and dad it just made its own way to the nest and climbed out.

Taken at Carenup swamp, north of Perth, Western Australia.

Nikon D700, 500mm (hired) lens, ISO1250, f/6.3, 1/400 sec, -1 step, tripod. And it washandy to have a walkway into the swamp which gave me a vantage point.

Feeling satisfied with a new photograph … that makes it a good day.

Heh. I just located the webs or toes—not where I thought they’d be. In fact, a good bit beyond! It’s a Dr. Seuss bird! Great detail, Nadine.

  • thanks so much, jan – those toes really are inspirational!
