I took so many photos of this little fella on the poppies in my mother’s garden in Angelsey, Wales that I’m not sure which is the best but this one shows off that stripe of pollen on his back better than the rest.

Nikon D700, 105mm macro lens, ISO400, f/3.3, 1/4000 sec, handheld. Centre lightened in Photoshop with Colour Efex pro

Very cool, Nadine! These shots are SO difficult for me—I never get the focus right on the bee (or bug of any kind). You’ve done terrifically with a narrow dof. Have you thought about playing with a very subtle vignette around this one?

Remarkable clarity with your focus on the bee, Nadine! Quite an appealing action shot, particularly for a macro. I peering more closely to see the pollen on its back. Amazingly sharp and nicely off-center. Beautiful work. I like this: I went to Wales and took photos of a bee. Remember slide shows (years ago) of friends who returned and showed boring photos of the Eiffel Tower? I’d willingly sit for hours to see your show! And that’s the highest Timmons praise I can give.
