This is such an appealing composition, with the bucket off-center, and the rope and shallow dof. I gather you had low-light conditions, but this shot surely doesn’t look grainy. Beautiful work, Nadine.

thanks jan, and for the fav! wow. That’s made my day. It was in a shady little nook in this beautiful garden full of shady little nooks. (I bought the D700 because it is renowned for shooting at 1600 without noise)

Oh, Nadine, boy, does THIS ever bring back the memories!!! At my grandmother’s farm there was no electricity and no running water … and the well … ahhhh … the well!!!! It had a little roof over it to prevent too many “things” from falling in … but the bucket … and the rope … and the turning bar along the top … very, very familiar!!!! Great image … thanks for the trip down memory lane!!!!! You’ve done a beautiful job!!!!

A really great shot, Nadine! The composition and dof are excellent. Can’t believe the iso is 1600. Says a lot for the camera as well as the photographer!

thanks colette! and for the fav. The 1600 it says more about the camera – the photographer probably forgot to change it since shooting in the dark the night before! The D700 sells itself on having no noise at 1600.
