When I first saw this photo in the thumbnail gallery I, like Bridget ,was instantly drawn to this photo. I thought it was a guy in love, dreamily dancing down the street not having a care in the world for what anyone around him who saw him may think of him….He was in love which inspired him to dance, “who cares”.

I almost wish I hadn’t read your description, as it completely burst my silly, romantic, Ideological bubble.

It’s a tragic situation that is happening in that part of the world…It’s a reality and this is one amazing photograph documenting that reality.

    Hi Rusty,

I was watching a program last night on ABC, it talked about the impact that situations have on the journalists and photojournalists.

Have you ever felt impacted by the environments that you’ve been in and the events that you’ve witnessed?

You must have such a story to tell, have you considered (or have you already) put together a book, words and photos or simply just photos?

Your work is just magnificent, always tells a meaningful story.

A well captured image. It evokes feelings of sadness, despair and yet reactions of awe and beauty. Technically it’s an excellent image with tension, movement, story, and it triggers emotions instantly, elements of making it a winning image. As for the situation that triggered the image, my only hope is that images and stories from both sides of the conflict will be shown.. and this group can be one mean in many, to increase more awareness of this conflict. Thanks for adding this powerful image to the Art of the Middle East group. and the opportunity it gives people to learn more, and maybe contribute somehow, sometime for a change.
