I arrived at the concept for this painting very quickly, but once getting involved in some considerable detail (and getting carried away with it), the painting wasn’t to be finished for some four weeks or so…..!

A green butterfly emerges from a crystalline egg-shaped geode in space to form a new form of life;
The cameras are there to represent mans irrepressible desire to record new events.

Acrylic painting on masonite. 24 inches X 36 inches

    Hello Chris, This celestial Hasselblad type painting is really exciting and wonderfully executed.

    Baird Risdon

  • Hi Baird :) Thank you! The idea for this came when asleep at night (almost as depicted); and I awoke to sketch it out for a minute or so ‘just-in-case-I-forgot’ in the morning…
    The fact I remembered it without needing the sketch meant I had to find time to create the final painting :) Cheers.
