Black Moor by Chris Baker

Currently unavailable for purchase

I tried to find a composition depicting a brooding black moor (at the bottom of the painting) as a portly, princely fish, lurking quietly beneath the playful veil-tails above.

Oil painting on masonite – 24 inches x 48 inches

‘Top Ten’ placement in ‘Underwater Living Creatures Challenge’:

oils, goldfish, aquatic, oil painting, fish painting

A figurative artist, Chris started out as an illustrator, later to become a figurative painter, focusing mainly on portraits.

This is great! I have always been biased against the Black Moors since I was a kid and mine did way with my other fish – lol – but I still think they are pretty.

  • Oooh… shame – they can be moody little so-and so’s can’t they? But you gotta love ‘em ;)
    Thanks for your comments :)

    Superb, artwork, Chris !!!
I have a black moor in my garden pond, it had an eye infection and is now completely blind, but its has survived like this for over 5 years !

  • Hi George – Thank you!
They do seem to be pretty sturdy little fellows, don’t they? 5 years blind seems a good run!
