Wonderful work and great how you have got the perspective just right with all those tricky angles! Hands and feet are the most difficult things to paint too!!!! Well done Chris.
Chris Baker replied
Hello Lynda, and thank you so much! I’ve always liked doing hands & feet (more so hands); I much appreciate you comments :)

Kevin McGeeney
wonderful!
Chris Baker replied
Hey there Kevin – thank you sir!! What are the mysterious ‘melted crayons’ that you mention in your profile?? [Intrigued!] Cheers!
Kevin McGeeney
put the tip of a crayon on a hot iron (tipped up), and catch the crayon as it melts with a pallet knife then slap the color on watercolor paper….it instantly solidifies on the paper creating an interesting texture and effect…..by the way, don’t do like I did and use that same iron to later iron work shirts, lol
Chris Baker replied
Ha! I’ve done just that sooo many times I can’t count ;)
That’s a great tip!! Thanks – appreciate the info :)
Astrid Strahm

Ozcloggie
Agree with Lynda. Renoir couldn’t get the hands right! You do it well. (I had Renoir prints everywhere but the mother of my children was not as keen. Often pointed that out to me. We’re divorced. )
Chris Baker replied
Thanks! that’s an amazingly generous compliment Ozcloggie :)
I must say, I particularly enjoy depicting hands… so much expression in there to play around with ;)
Hope you’ve got your Renoirs back up now ;) Cheers!
Rhinovangogh
This is playful and an interesting pose. There is nothing garrish or blatantly seductive here which is refreshing. The repeating circle design element is one opf my favorites. I like what you do.
Chris Baker replied
Thanks Rhino – I really appreciate you observation here; there is NO intention of inuendo or any sexual foibles here at all – Melanie really IS as shown.
That’s why it’s a portrait. Many thanks for that – I appreciate your insight immensely :)
(oh… the circular theme in the design… it’s old buddhist sign of respect – it shows the ‘constant’ in a person ;)
DreaM
how adorable!
Chris Baker replied
Thank you DreaM!!
cjcase
unreal detail, you have a gift…
Chris Baker replied
