Near My home In The Valley - for Mikahala
Honolulu
STORIES
near myhome in the valley
i stand still among white ginger
my waiting has been a pleasure
and the clouds wait for rain
the wind blows swiftly through the bamboo gate
i haven’t any time to ask your name
i listen to the ribbon tails in a flurry
spreading their feathers in the mist
in the stillness i move
with certain steps in the Tantalus mountains
dark faces escape my hands
as i fall between boulders
washing away the black stone
you remain there upon cold grass
now i see you leap from path to path
wet feet zigzagging on jade stones
dawn breezes take you
leaving your slippers in the final pool
