Untitled

As I stare at those eyes,

Peering out from that face,

I find I can do naught but be still.

Staring at me,

Yet far beyond me,

Are wells of despair with no will.

Such depth and emotion

Trapped in one place.

The body no more than a shell.

Afraid to intrude,

But wanting to help,

I wonder why all is not well.

Unable to help it,

I am filled with compassion

And know I will do all I can.

If only before,

Through my depression,

Someone had taken my hand.

A tear from my eye

Falls onto a hand

And pits of despair turn to me.

With utmost compassion

“Are you okay?”

Despair filled eyes can now see.

A tear wet hand

Appears on my shoulder,

Never have I been so moved.

Despair turned concern,

A moving moment,

As compassion is once again proved.

Even in a world filled

With terror and war

Beautiful people give

Their share and more.
