A while back when I finally saw The Avengers again, I noticed my favourite quote wasn’t actually in the movie. Which happens more often than you’d think ;)
It was the scene where Thor tries to convince Loki to give up his ruling ambitions and come home. What I thought was happening was, Thor said, “You give up the Tesseract! You give up this poisonous dream! You come home.” And Loki replied with, “I have none.” Which I didn’t take to be a whiny, looking for sympathy, remark. But rather a sneer, much in the style of Loki telling Thor he isn’t his brother.
However, that’s not what Loki said, he really said, “I don’t have it.” (Referring to the Tesseract.) Though, that could refer to both the Tesseract and ‘home.’ So maybe my favourite quote is in it, sort of, after all :)
I have no idea why I missed that the first time around. Guess we often just hear what we want to hear.
