Never was such a Euphmenism Spun to Deceive,
As the one about Adam, the Serpent and Eve.
In this Epic Fable, they have tried to Construe,
that the Great Race of man was Spawned just by Two.
Figuratively speaking, twould be Folly to Say,
that the First of our kind was Begot in a Day.

By using our Brains and the Knowledge we Seek,
It’s Doubtless that ALL was Formed in a Week.
In the Garden of God, lived Man and his Mate,
They Roamed around Naked, an Ecstatic State.
More Cherished they were than the Rarest of Flower,
above all the Beasts they Shared Supreme Power.

Until came the Day when Eve spoke with a Snake,
who Promised her Wisdom from the Fruit if she’d take.
With the Apple consumed, Eve Gained our Free Will,
the Original Sin was Committed for Real.
By initiating this, she inadvertently had,
engendered a Difference between Good and Bad.

Due to this act the pair were then Banished,
our Delicate Balance would Forever be Vanished.
Scattered they were like Dust to the Wind,
the Safety they’d known was now in Rescind.
By the Elements Grace they lived in Despair,
Forced in a Cave to Serve as their Lair.

After Dwelling in Squalor, Two sons were Conceived,
one a Good Shepherd, whilst the other Deceived.
Into the Country walked Abel and Cain,
out of Sheer envy his Brother was Slain.
Cain’s Greedy Hands now Covered in Blood,
The Sound of it Shed, Cried up from the Mud.

The Lord Heard this wail, so Punished was Cain,
To wander the Earth Forever in Pain.
As for the Snake, whom Eve he thus Led,
was Cursed with the Heel to Strike at his Head.
Squashed like a Beetle at any such Cost,
because of his Play in Paradise Lost.

I don’t know, if the truth be known i’d rather be able to paint than write, I guess it’s because images are far more challenging than words, in addition the mind will always see pictures in different ways, perception being subjective and all that ;)

    Thanks ;)
The creation story is a powerful one, it begts to be manifested into various mediums of art, my favourite example of this is easily Paradise lost, to which I offer homage in the last line, i’m simply tredding over old ground…

    Thankyou so much (blushing here)
this story has been told far more eloqunetly,
than I could ever dream to tell, and more than once.
Check ‘Paradise Lost’ for starters ;)-

Max Gatrell in reply to dimarie’s comment, about 1 month ago

Cheers Dimarie, someone once told me the BIble,
was written a Desert survival manual, letting us know what
to avoid and what to embrace accordingly, more so than the Bible,
this poem’s inspired by the marvellous ‘Paradise Lost’
