Within the Hotel there wasn’t a Sound,
no talk from the Guests nor Bark of a Hound.
In one of the Rooms Stirred that which was Dead,
whilst those still alive, lay asleep in their Bed.
The Women awoke and Guess what she Saw?
Twas a Band set of Ghosts, Fiddlers Four!
Yet as they Played on, no Sound was endured,
no Glide of the Bow, nor Pluck of a Chord.

The Girl sat up Scared and Rubbed at her eye,
she thought this too much and Started to Cry.
Unfazed by her Tears, the Phantoms pressed on,
subject to their Rhythm, enslaved by their Song.
What Terror was this in her Chamber that loomed?
was it a Sign, or some omen of Doom?
Infact it was neither Malice nor Gloom,
just Four that were Dead, Free from their Tomb.

To those in their Grave, the Sombre is Merry,
the Requiem is Gay, the Dirge is Contrary.
Proceeded to pluck with a Smile on their Face,
oblivious to Time, done with that Chase.
Performed a Finale and hence Disappeared,
finished they were until the Next Year.
But then they’d be back, same as before,
to Play once again, those Fiddlers Four.

Well Max I see much jollity here your quest such as it may be to ease the frightened ones of phamptoms in the dark for most are so rightly expressed harmless, they have no sense of time no rules so free to come and go when they please, I did however see something more Hotel California by the Eagles may have influenced you a little if not I take it back with regret as I see the mix perfect in your wonderful riddle, respect COOL art x

LOL you’re too cool, comparing my stuff to some of my favourite tracks, maybe subconsiously I did have Hotel California in mind, I mean it is one the best tunes ever composed so it’s sort of hard not to have in the head on a perennial basis. As for these particular visitants, well I do see them as especially malevolent, they simply do what they do and that is play their violins ;)
