Originally from Moscow Russia, Nelly Riekse now resides in Michigan with her husband and son. Throughout her life, she has used her creative talent in many areas including, theater, film productions, advertising, television, and photography, as well as her painting and illustrations. As a make-up artist for television and the Russian Cinema, she had the pleasure of working with many important personalities such as President Gorbachev, leading politicians, and well known celebrities.
Nelly attributes her love of art and much of her learning to her father Dr. Evgeny Shiryaev (PhD), a renowned Russian scientist and painter. He has been her best teacher throughout their years of working together.Recently, her work has been on exhibit in various galleries in the United States, as well as earning prominence, taking 1st place in sculpture competition.Currently, she is looking forward to a joint comission with her father of 40 historical portraits for a prestigious Moscow University.
